Car covers are for life, not just for Christmas...

Many people look at car covers as a winter commodity, something to be used in the colder months when the winds howl, the rain batters down and everyone tries to stay warm and dry. In reality though this is often not the season when car covers are really useful. Unless you own a vintage car or vehicle that has problems staying watertight then by their very nature most cars are water resistant from the moment you buy them; they have to be to function as a vehicle. Because of this the wind and rain are often not a concern, rather people should be worried about the various contaminants throughout the year and the damage they can do to their vehicles.

Dust, grime, tree sap, bird droppings, all of these things can cause damage to your vehicle in greater or lesser degrees. What people often fail to realise is that these things become far worse and have a much greater potential to cause problems from spring into summer and through into autumn, and this is really the period when you need to use one of our car covers to keep your vehicle safe and sound.

In spring the flowers begin to bloom and the pollen in the atmosphere increases a hundred-fold. With this pollen comes dust and a plethora of other airborne particles that can settle on your vehicle and encourage rust to set in. Even if rust is not a concern imagine all of those tiny little particles, rubbing gently against the finish of your car. As you can imagine there is some measure of exfoliating effect that will gradually remove the surface layers of your paint resulting in a marked, duller finish and less protection from the elements.

As we move into summer you will find cycles of clear, crisp dry days followed by grey, hot, humid ones. This cycle allows dust to circulate and settle in the dry air, and then when the moist humid air arrives this will cause corrosion on your vehicle if not protected with one of our car covers. Summer winds can also prove potentially hazardous, they have been known to bring dust, sand and dirt from places as far away as the Sahara Desert and South America.

Autumn is potentially the most worrying of months for vehicle owners who are not in possession of one of our car covers. Whilst the leaves falling from the trees may look beautiful and provide a breathtaking vista to behold each one of those leaves can settle on your car and ooze tree sap onto your paint work and finish. If not removed this can set like a hard gum that requires scrubbing to eliminate completely, and leaves are also packed with everything from fungus to bugs and dirty water.

As you can see our car covers are ideal for use throughout the year, particularly our lightweight breathable and waterproof half car covers, and our soft indoor car covers can be used all year round as well. If you do not see your car on our site contact us straight away and we'll provide a list of suitable covers along with a full quote as soon as possible.
