Car covers and summer showers

Summer is here, and as normal the British weather is putting an end to our plans for long hot days, barbecues, days by the seaside and evenings driving with the top down. Whilst rainfall has been relatively low we have seen a large number of small and somewhat sporadic showers, and it is these "sun showers" that can cause quite a large amount of damage to your vehicle, more so than a lengthy winter shower.

Problems occur with these "sun showers" because of the warmer summer climate. Generally speaking the air is much drier and car covers that protect against the rain would not be needed, however when a sudden rainstorm does occur the air quickly becomes very humid and moist, and this coupled with high temperatures and low pressure are the perfect conditions for rust and corrosion.

Even the best protected vehicles could do with a set of our car covers, no matter how much you wax, polish and detail your vehicle will always be lacking in protection itself, moisture can permeate into the smallest of gaps and once there it cannot be removed. Constant heating and sudden cooling when the rain falls creates a cycle of contracting and expanding and this obviously opens up microscopic crevices in your vehicle, another place where moisture can penetrate and begin to cause damage.
